This is a very underwhelming return for Nino IMO. Nino had a rough year last year due to injury (he played through a broken leg that he didn't know about until much later in the season) but he was still on pace for 23 goals. Playing healthy with Hall and Hischier he's probably over 30 goals (look at his 16/17 season point production for a better picture of what type of player he is). Two bottom-6 potential players and a 3rd simply isn't enough for a top 6 winger. You'd have to give a very good prospect like Boqvist or Smith and a good pick like a 2nd or give up your 1st and a good but not great prospect like Mcleod or Anderson (the Wild would add a little bit if you gave Mcleod).

Agree to some extent, originally included a second, but it seems to ke the cost of unloading cap these days tends to be a middle six forward for a second and maybe a later pick or middling prospect. It really depends what you think of Bratt ... which I believe is in line with yours. Nino seems a good fit for NJ, but I find the valuation difficult. Maybe a second & Bratt straight up would be fair in my book.

I'm, of course, assuming the Wlid want to open up some cap room. If not, I see no motivation for the Wild to make this trade at all.

To be totally honest we are fine with cap. Personally I really don't like Speers, Queneville, or Bratt. They just scream career bottom 6 players to me. For a known young top 6 winger on a decent contract with term the Devils are going to have to give up a good prospect and a 1st or a great prospect and a 2nd. If Nino only had a year left on his contract then I think the return you've given is close (like the Skinner trade), but since he has 4 years on his contract this just wouldn't cut it IMO.

As a Devils fan, I agree with you on Speers and Q, but I think Bratt has better potential than them. He did well until he ran out of gas the last third of the season.
TanSor liked this.
