Thats what you can get when you dont overpraise yourself as TML did last year, cause they were far off being Cup contender aka buyer at all
After missing on Stamkos, i bet some clever heads in TML office already eyed Tavares, cause guy was a sure shot he'll come to TML this season ( hes being hunted by Burke when he wasnt even draftable) so strategically they should be ditching 2017/2018 season with putting up depth in pics, knowing Nylander, Marner and Matthews are on the line for signing and being upgraded with Tavares.
2018 TDL in that case should bring in Tatar kind of player, preferably shutdown Dman ( i know he was traded exactly in same time ) and with that someone who would make Nylander expendable (with the current situation going on) for trading for Top RHD , or even better ( being a SWE fan by birth ) signing Nylander and trading "imaginary" Tatar for D
Next guy is Gardiner, coming into last year of his contract, so you dont do same mistake as for JVR ( i still think TML should re-sign Gardiner ), cause we still arent Cup-contenders aka "buyers" even this year, Defence being way to random and unproven
Originally i was going for Trouba, but some ppl here are reading yellow pages ( i dont ), so i ditched that idea, trying to fish Manson, while ANA entering Cap-crunch next year, being loaded with 4 top Ds and proly wont be able to protect them all in 2020/2021 Expansion Draft
To help with ANA Cap-crunch, VAN come to help having most of D's on the verge of contract next year, so three way trade is done at Feb 2019 TDL
Hopefully all the picks from 3rd round on will be Swedes ( with so many 7ths we defenitelly should won a new Zetterberg out of one )
