Description
Like the title says, I'm just playing around here - looking to see if something could work out.

The basic idea is to inject youthful players into LA's pipeline at the cost of a prospect. I picked Dion Phaneuf to move but it frankly could be anyone that the Kings want. Lekhoken is the big piece that is moving back along with a replacement D man. I could easily be talked into swapping Scherbak for another prospect like say Jake Evans or anyone else currently in Laval. If LA doesn't like the prospects on offer than perhaps the better of the two second round picks the Habs have in 2019?
Trades
MTL
  1. Clague, Kale
  2. Phaneuf, Dion
Additional Details:
Of course I don't know if the Habs are on Dion's list but hey, no one knows until he's asked.
LAK
  1. Lehkonen, Artturi
  2. Olofsson, Gustav
  3. Scherbak, Nikita
Additional Details:
A replacement D man that's a little older, a top 6 F ready to play now to inject youth into the core and another project who might pay big dividends with a change of scenery.

Kings accept. They need to shed salary. Adding Phaneuf was mistake last year.

Yeah, he seemed like the biggest contract they'd feel comfortable moving. Their veteran forwards seem to run very hot and then very cold so as soon as one seems disposable, they tear it up. But Phaneuf? He's a plyon. He and Alzner can take turns telling the rookies war stories from the press box.

MTL Declines

Lehkonen ,Kotkanemi and Domi are untouchable for MTL

there is 0/100% chance we trade our 18 year old Top Center Prospects 22 year old Winger.
Lehkonen's a value outside that and always has been but since Kotkanemi's Arrival Lehkonen's become an even better player all around

you're over paying for a cap dump when LAK would give up clague to move out phaneuf as a starter and if i was MTL i'd offer Scherbak ,Olofsson and a 4th because think of it this way , we're taking on their Alzner level stupid mistake and they are still walking away with more possible value then MTL as Clague could bust as MTL's Tinordi and Beaulieu proved being a top prospect in the first round doesnt mean anything is guaranteed.

buying Alzner out it 1m 4/5 years and 4m next year .
its by far the easiest way and cheapest to get rid of him .

Phaneuf is actually a good mentor for Juulsen on bottom pair plus he'll assume our Goon role from an expendable position .
next time a punk like Paquette ride's our rookie rough shot into the boards we'll have Pilon to send at him taking them both off the ice giving MTL's speed game more room to work .
