Description
Since the cap era began, the players listed in the forwards section are the only ones with better 3 year starts than Nylander (based on PPG). The players in the first 2 to 3 lines are in a completely different tier than the rest.

Players that have had slightly worse starts are on defense. All listed in order from Left to Right.

PPG isn't the definitive metric of how good a player is, but based on this list, regardless of linemates, situation, deployment etc. all of these players are extremely talented.

Only a few have been traded

E Kane - off ice issues
Horton - injuries
Eberle and Hall - Chi being Chi

These players represent Nylander's floor and his ceiling. You should Sign/Trade/Value Nylander accordingly.

"These players represent Nylander's floor and his ceiling. You should Sign/Trade/Value Nylander accordingly."

1)crosby
2)mcdavid
3)malkin
4)ovechkin aka greatest goal scorer ever.......
5)backstrom

all these players scored 100 points by their 2nd season in the league and if you think these players could be his ceiling I can't take you seriously

ovechkin and crosby are top 5-8 all time......all time ever to play in the nhl.........

ppg last season nylander and spooner had the same ppg....... you should treat him like a player who is going to average 60-70 points in a good year......50-60 in an off year....

im going to circle back I think crosby and ovechkin 1st year is better than his first 2 years.....

hes a good player but he plays with elite talent and hasnt broke 70 points yet,,,,,,,,idk what the point of this is......at the age of 21-22 all these players and their team that thought they were worth locking up long term on a term they both can agree on

It was clearly stated those players are in a different tier and did better than him. I can't take you seriously if you cant be bothered to read. The players that are closest to Nylander would obviously be those at the bottom of the forward group and the top of the D group, which was inferred by the part about order of appearance.

Also covered was the section about playing with elite talent, go read it again. Pasta with bergeron and marchard, rantanan with mackinnon and landeskog, but what they all have in common is if you're on this list youre a good player regardless of deployment and linemates.

Spooner did it at 25. So no, players that do it at 21ish tend to grow, players that do it at 25 do not.

Feel free to browse the stats here

no I read your description but why bother adding these clearly elite players to this ........roster? you also said these players represent Nylander's floor and his ceiling. You should Sign/Trade/Value Nylander accordingly.

in what world do those players represent his ceiling? ill answer they don't....it was pointless to list them....... that was my main point

Completely disagree with you, the post gives a nice perspective of the only players that have done better than him on their ELC.

Although unlikely, those elite players could be his ceilling, player's don't fully mature until about 23-24

Great post

In what world do those players represent his ceiling? How bout one where Mackinnon has elevated his game to a level similar to those top tier players, for 1 season anyways, he could fall back down to earth tomorrow, but for our purposes, yes a player like Mackinnon with a worse start to his career than Nylander has elevated his game to the ceiling defined by those players, for one season, let's see if he maintains it.
