Barrie should be traded for either a starting goalie or a high end goalie prospect in the 2019-20 season. That offseason they should sign Krug, Holtby, or both depending on their cap space.
Barberio and Nemeth aren't in their long term plans and Barrie doesn't fit with Makar and Timmins coming up as solid PP defensmen. Bourque, Nieto, Wilson, Andrighetto, Calvert, and Soderberg are going to eventually give way to younger players.
This doesn't even include their Ottawa pick this year, Lewis, Smirnov, or Bowers. Colorado has zero bad contracts to carry, a franchise center signed for a long while at 6.3 MILLION, and all their veteran contracts all come off the books in accordance to the development of their stacked prospect pool. Colorado simply has it all except for elite young goalies/goalie prospects. Also with the cap, I calculated that they should have at least 4 million left this offseason if they resign Varlamov and all their RFAs except for Andrighetto, and at least 3 million more the following offseason if they sign all their RFAs and Krug. Talk about a perfect cap situation.
