Description

Grab a couple UFA D vets at the 2019 TDL as injury insurance. No intention to resign them later. In an ideal world for the Leafs, neither would suit up much at all for them in the playoffs, but they are good cheerleaders and have the experience to step in. Also, they would cost very little to acquire. If any trades of Nylander, Kapanen, Zaitsev, or Brown need to happen to get cap compliant, make those deals at the draft after having competed for the Cup.

They aren't minor. acquisitions if they affect the performance carryover.

Jordie Benn should be available, he is pending UFA and plays RD and LD. Would say he is more reliable than lovejoy but more importantly he can play either side which would mean leafs don't have to acquire 2 players, Benn would be perfect 7th D. I'm a MTL fan reason I would trade him is because Alzner can replace him and we are stuck with Alzner so might as well trade Benn.
