Colorado doesn't trade MacKinnon even if they get Hughes. You take the franchise center over the franchise winger 10/10 times. They'd much rather have an amazing one two punch of MacKinnon and Hughes. Plus MacKinnon is on that absolute steal of a contract. He'd be at least 4 million cheaper than Laine.

Dude, Face it Trouba wants out of Winnipeg. Fat chance he takes 8 x 7 in Winnipeg he'll get more from American teams. And Laine isn't going anywhere. There's no way you can afford to sign Laine, Trouba, Stone and Connor to huge contracts! Something has to give.

I traded Laine after signing him, Trouba is still RFA for another year, I’m betting he wants the security of a long term deal more than he actually wants out of Winnipeg. I think he put up a fight to get more time on the top pairing and PP time (which he’s getting now, on PP1) so that he could get paid like it, but he’s not an elite point producer so yeah 7-7.5 million a year might do it.
