Description

Buying out Lucic will cost 5.5 million for 4 years with 600K then next 4 years after that which is irrelevant. While 5.5 sounds like alot, you get Bouchard on a ELC for 2 years then a bridge for 2 more. If you look at the Long term outlook we can build around that, Perron in 3 years bozak in 2. On top of all that we get a stud defensemen in bouchard who can replace Pietrangelo and a hopeful top 10 pick.

Also another option is let Lucic play one year out in St, Louis. If hes trash buy him out and you save 1 extra year of 600k and if he returns to a 6 million dollar player (lol) then good for him.

They won’t trade Bouchard, but I could see 2 first rounders if we take Lucic and trade Schenn. With the Oilers you’ll never know where the picks will be.

This is an interesting take. Would love to see the Blues get a first and Bouchard. That Lucic contract will go down in the annals of NHL history with the Rick DiPietro contract.
