Trade Benn who’s playing very good hockey right now, Deslauriers & Hudon. Trade Armia too. But Bergevin will try to bring a player maybe 2, but small move like the Mike Reilly trade last TDL.

If MB has learned anything from his time here, he has only a few things to do at the TDL.

- Move pending UFA's Benn, Niemi and Agostino for picks. They're easily replaceable on our roster and we could get a couple extra picks for them. MB probably won't because we're trying to "win a cup" this year but he should. This team is still retooling.

- Move extra depth for best available returns before they are lost for nothing on waivers like Hudon and maybe Peca. Both are decent enough to be snatched up on waivers for nothing. Start planning the move now and turn that unused depth into an asset like a late round pick. Who cares if you have to call up another plugger from the AHL to play the 4th line instead? (McCarron, etc)

- Figure out what he's going to do with one of Shaw/Armia/Lehkonen/Byron. When everyone is healthy one of those guys has to play on the 4th line as a result. Its time to move on from one of them for an area of need like LHD or picks. My opinion is trade Armia at the TDL for picks. He is decent player but he'll want a raise on his contract and with MTL's depth, may end up playing 4th line minutes next year if we do sign him.

- Lastly obviously try to unload Alzner, Schlemko etc but I just don't think its possible. Buyout Alzner in the offseason and banish Schlemko to the AHL for the remainder of his contract or keep as a 7th dman that rarely plays so that a youngster doesn't have to sit during the season.

Nothing fancy. Not hard GM'ing at all. Day to day stuff a GM should know what to do. This should be a very easy TDL for MB so he can't screw it up.

Yeah the only thing is if you buyout alzner you lose 72,000 in cap so pretty much paying to lose an asset

Isnt that the whole point of a buyout?? Its not like hes playing anyway. Plus i dont know where you get your information from but if the Habs buyout Alzner they get quite a lot of cap relief.
