Description
Now that I have thought about this what if Pittsburgh kept Brassard since they have roughly $4.5 million in cap with Schultz on LTIR
Acquiring Ferland is a good move for Pittsburgh as he will instantly improve their depth and could help the third line. He could center and you could move Brassard to the wing which is where he wanted to play earlier in the season.
This next trade is a little tricky as Puljujarvi is a former 4th overall pick and hasn't lived up to the hype. Could be an Edmonton thing with prospects not named McDavid. Anyways Puljujarvi needs a fresh start and Pittsburgh could be his saving grace playing with some of the best centers in the league. Edmonton could be looking to bolster their back end with Oleksiak playing PK mins and being a solid 5th/6th Dman or they could turn around and flip him to another team for a forward

These see decent but I'd rather have Simon since he's a lot cheaper and it will be a cap crunch next year.

the thing about Ferland is that Pittsburgh won't have the money to resign him and they have a few options in Blandisi and Teddy Blueger to take those spots

Im not counting on those two though, hopefully they could be nice surprises. Im more interested in Almeida, Pavlychev and Bellerive as far as our younger talent on the way up and maybe some others. Those guys are mostly too young to be given a chance while the guys youre naming might not be as impactful as simon or other cheap bottom line players like haula or virtanen or markus granlund.

Ferland will be a straight rental but the Pens need some toughness. If you lose Simon who cares really. He doesn't have a spot in the top 9 when everyone's healthy and won't next season either unless he becomes a 3rd line center which isn't likely.
Blueger is much more likely to be successful in a bottom 6 role as a center.
Blandisi was brought in for some grit but i don't see him being a regular in the lineup this year or next year.
