I honestly dont think CHI will accept that trade. MTL isnt willing to give up a 2nd rounder for a 3rd line centre and you just need to balance that Gudbranson deal with some picks. Contract wise, Demko and Leivo should get a little raise, and IMO, Canucks will sign Woo, Madden as well as Rathbone next season. No need for that Gravel signing. We have plenty of LHD in our system, and it doesnt make sense to sign a 26 yr old who has 12pts in 98GP, unless we send him to Utica. Also where's Edler? No way we're letting him go for nothing. Either re-sign him or trade him.

We need an LD here, badly. Hughes as 2LD is good, Hutton as 1LD is scary, and Juolevi is no guarantee. I would add someone as a 1-year rental - preferably Edler. We can afford it this year, and then we let Hughes and Juolevi develop into 1-2 LD for next season (after this). Seems better is all.

Trying to be realistic here, don't see any way Edler signs a 1-year deal. There's still about $10M in cap space so if you need to bring in a guy on a one-year deal you can, but it's not going to be Edler.
