The retained money isnt necessary on the Staal trade....but I dont mind these as long as Manning is a ufa this year

The retained money is more of a contingency than anything else. Manning is a UFA in 2 years but it costs us about 1.25mill to bury him for the last year, and .666mill for 2 years to buy out his last year. Either way it's small in the grand scheme of things.
