Why Zucc and a 2nd for a 3C and a 5th? If anything it’d be Soderberg and a 2nd for Zucc and a 5th.

Colorado's not contending anytime soon so they'd want the better draft pick out of the deal. They'd be taking Z just through next year basically. Maybe Colorado would do Ottawa's 3rd they have instead of a 5th.

Okay but that still doesn't answer why it would be a stud of a player like Zucc for an anchor of a contract?

Soderberg only has a few years and it gives the Rangers a solid 3C which they don't have in system for the next few years. Zucc is getting up there and his size is starting to catch up with his ability. It would allow for grabbing another winger while basically swapping salary. Who else can they deal to make it work salary wise?

Skjei will certainly get more than 3 mil, and why would we want kovalchuk

I think Kovalchuk would be a solid addition playing with buch and that russian connection, but that being said the zucc trade is so bad for the rangers
