This Would Be a Good Start

Created by: dconn
Team: 2017-18 Montreal Canadiens
Initial Creation Date: Dec. 11, 2017
Published: Dec. 11, 2017
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Hopefully a top 6C can be picked up as a ufa (eg backlund, sedin) that can hold the fort for a few years while the prospect pool develops at the ahl/nhl level (eg. evans, thomas, Poehling) I realize that most of this clearly won't happen, but i think that for the most part, these moves are feasible in terms of value (even if not the ideal trade partners)
Trades
1.
MTL
  1. Thomas, Robert
  2. Walman, Jake
  3. 2019 1st round pick (STL)
Additional Details:
Frankly my first instinct to get a deal done was Kyrou instead of Thomas, swapping those two would also mean swapping Walman for Dunn.
STL
  1. Pacioretty, Max
Additional Details:
With Schwartz out this could certainly benefit the Blues for a cup run. even though I realize RW is more of a deficit than the Left. Regardless, I think the value is fair.
2.
MTL
  1. Theodore, Shea
Additional Details:
Basically a Hockey Trade
VGK
  1. Galchenyuk, Alex
Additional Details:
As much as I would like to keep Chucky, he will never reach his potential in Montreal with the treatment he gets.
3.
MTL
  1. 2018 2nd round pick (WSH)
TBL
  1. 2018 6th round pick (TBL)
4.
MTL
  1. Nylander, Alexander
  2. 2019 1st round pick (BUF)
BUF
  1. Alzner, Karl
Additional Details:
I realize that Nylander is probably Buffalo's top prospect, but when it comes down to it, he is just that... a prospect (unproven in the nhl)
5.
MTL
  1. 2018 1st round pick (CGY)
NYI
  1. Plekanec, Tomas ($3,000,000 retained)
  2. 2019 4th round pick (MTL)
Additional Details:
For those that question the value here dont forget what hanzel got last deadline. NYI current GAA is one of the worst in the league. And Plek (while over the hill) is still one of the best defensive centres playing. At 30games he was on the ice for only 8 goals against 5v5... and that is playing against the best forwards in the league.
