Description
Bumped the Salary Cap up to $83M

Pitch to Karlsson with living on Long Island, short drive from the city, brand new arena to play in, good team and pairing with one of the best (most criminally underrated) defensemen in the league.

Get rid of almost all the guys on expiring deals (De Haan, Nelson, Hickey, Chimera, Seidenberg, Halak, Kulemin), Ho-Sang gets a bridge deal along with Pulock.
Eberle, Bailey and Lee all get paid.
Gonna have to probably trade Beauvillier to make room for guys with smaller contracts and probably overpay for a team to take on a bad contract such as Boychuk, Ladd or Clutterbuck if they even have value to make room for Barzal's contract the following year.
Sorokin takes over Greiss' contract after the years over to open up an additional $3.3M.

But all in all, definitely realistic to sign him.

Obviously I didn't sign all the AHL guys etc just to save time.

Max deal (20%) of $83M is 16.6M

I doubt highly doubt he gets max

The salary cap is inflating to at least 80 million next season and lots of experts believe his deal will be above 12 million. I have no idea how think the isles get off paying him 10.5 when they have absolutely no leverage.

Lots of experts also say he's not even worth $11 million, he 100% has a blank check with the Isles but he wants to win way more than he wants to get paid.

Is Karlsson worth 12m in 2019 and seven years in the future? Yea some team might pay him that but is it it good value? Maybe two 6m UFAs are better value. I'd be'd worried and hopeful that Barzal is due to big bump in salary the following year.

bubbahaber: Regarding Tavares. There are few teams that might be desirable to Tavares that can pay him 11m or more. So when folks say....players are worth lets's say 11m....OK I would like to see the Isles competition in a bidding war for Tavares. Same with any UFA.

Tavares maximum probably gets $11.5 million he'd easily get that much on the open market in a bidding war. I think Karlsson could easily double his current cap hit so you're talking about close to $13 million per.

Agree Karlsson could easily command between $12 million to $13 million per on the open market, Probably as many as 15 teams could bid for his service.

Tavares is on pace for over 90 points this season, Yes he will easily get at least $11 million per if he were to go to free agency there would easily be teams offering him that much.

Yeah on the open market, but not on the open market hes getting around $10.5 million

too much for Karlsson, and too little for Bailey and Lee. The latter two could demand north of $7mill as UFAs on the open market if Lee ends around 40 goals each for the next two years and Bailey his over a point per game pace he is on this season.

With the reported salary cap going up as high as $83 million there's no way Tavares is settling for $10.5 million pretty much guarantee he gets more.

Yeah those all depend on how these guys perform, I just gave them Cam Atkinson like contracts as a comparable.
