Detroit fans have to stop thinking we would take Ericsson and his bad contract. Last year was the final one of us taking a contract for an asset. Shero and Castron have righted the ship, and a few picks/signings have turned into gems (Bratt/Butcher). We are only adding players that help this quickened rebuild, not 33 year old injured d men with 4 more years left. You wanna trade AA, sure will listen. Green probably him too but we wont give up our first, so it probably doesn't work. Talk to the Yotes to move your junk.

Why would Montreal want Glendening when they have Drouin, Danualt, De La Rose, Froese for next year.

Saw a rumor yesterday that Bergevin may have interest, so figured I'd throw it out there.

I think this is the first time I've ever thrown Ericsson into a trade. I tend to waive him for the $1.025M savings. However, he's been playing pretty decently this year (4 pts in last 6 games), so I thought of a "sell high" trade which would get you guys a 3rd pairing guy at very low cost (you give a 5th for Ericsson and a 6th). We eat 47% of his salary.

Even if you were to sell Ericsson high, it would not include getting a higher pick. You have to remember just because he has a good stretch of games, teams are going to look at his past 3 years and compare him to that rather a 6 game stretch. Teams will not take Ericsson, unless we give them an asset. It just doesn't work for a slow, 33 year old defensemen that really doesn't offer much to a team outside of being a 6th defensemen.

What about Ericsson (retain $1.75M) for future considerations then?

Agreed first off Ericsson has a 19 team no trade list and i'm pretty sure the NJD are on it.

I see Glendening more in Toronto then Montreal, Glendening was always Babcocks favorite any ways pretty much like Blash.

There's no way Ericsson is waiving for the NJD, As of this year he has a full NTC and then a 19 team no trade for the 2018/2019 season no way is Ericsson waiving for the Devils.

Agreed if Glenny goes any where it's probably Toronto he was always Babcocks favorite in his time with Detroit.

You know that Holland would never do that, He's not dealing Ericsson for future considerations. Let's be honest with ourselves here.

This is ArmChair GM, not Ken Holland GM. Notice I didn't sign Cleary and extend Kronwall? smile

There's no saying where E52 would/wouldn't sign. NJ looks like a great team this year.
