Tavares Experiment.

Description
Theoretically, the Hawks could afford Tavares. Yes his cap space would be high, but technically by removing Anisimov (who would be the odd man out) and panik, and lets say Tavares signs a 8 year 12m AAV, it would only make a 4.7m cap space difference if the hawks stayed with anisimov and panik.

I know Tavares will probably not go to Chicago, but this is more of a showing that the hawks can make some moves to bolster the team.

You can’t sign Tavares for 8 Years. Max would be 7.

I know why do these people keep offering UFAs 8 years only their respectful clubs can do 8 years.

Only 7 years for Tavares and giving him $12 million would put a major strain on the Hawks salary cap.

Just the team that already have the player's rights can re-sign him for 8 years. The UFAs can only be signed for 7 years at most. And yes, Hawks would be in cap trouble signing Tavares. It's off their table.

Besides, Tavares probably will play for the Leafs or Canadiens. Most probably for the Leafs.

There is no way the Leafs are able to afford Tavares when you have Austin MAtthews, Marner, Nylander, JVR, Bozak, etc to sign.

I like the thought of signing Tavares, except I don't love it. The Blackhawks already have three players signed for long term deals at big cap numbers, and a lot of fans already dislike two of them (Toews & Seabrook). I'm not sure the Blackhawks should have a 3rd player with a cap hit above $10M. They'll be in cap hell if they do that. And I'm not sure fans will like the Tavares contract in year 5 of the deal if they don't like the 10.5M per year contract for the captain of three cups.
If the Blackhawks signed him I bet in 4 years we'd be trying to trade him and Seabrook to the Coyotes.
