I see the plekanec, weber and Lindgren trades to be off on value when considering what Montreal is actually getting back.

As in Montreal is getting back too much considering what they are giving? Or too little?

I'm not sure how the return for Lindgren due to the fact that he is a very good goalie prospect who could steal a starting position but since he is a goalie it's lower than say for a forward, could maybe push for a 2nd. Plekanec alone with 50% retained salary I would say is worth a 2nd or a low 1st to a contending team for what he brings and that plekanec and Byron for Hagelin (cap dump and depth winger at best) and a 2nd + 4th is on the low end of what we could get. I would argue that Byron to say Edmonton or LA or even Tampa would atleast fetch a 2nd by himself. I don't know enough about the players coming back on the patches and weber trade to judge their value as to if it's fair or not. Judging this based off what I've seen other people access values of those players at.

Regarding Plekanec and Byron for a 2nd 4th and 6th, all in different years. Retaining on Hagelin and picking up Trenin in the process.

I think you can easily make that Pittsburgh trade without including Byron. Taking Hagelin isn't worth giving anything else up for, and the 4th isn't interesting enough to justify taking him and flipping him with retention, when you could get a similar return for Byron and skip that step.

I appreciate the idea, but the benefit just isn't there for Montreal.

Plekanec at 50% for a 2nd.
Byron for Trenin.
You might be able to get a low pick or low end prospect added to either deal, but if not, you save that retention slot for a deal that will give you a better return than a 4th and a 6th.

I'd probably keep Lindgren and look for a prospect trade if the plan is to keep Price. You've probably got the value about right, but I think we could ask for a former 2nd round pick instead. If not, keep him and give him more playing time to raise his value until we can maximize the return.

I Agree On Lindgren, Montreal should resign him and promise him 25-30 games a year to put pressure on price to perform. He is worth more to Montreal as of right now than any other team.
