It’s all just terrible. Arizona gets boned out the door. What is that Krejci for seabrook deal? Nothing excites me more than watching that 7M dollar albatross patrol the bruins backend for another 7 years.

Rival fan here. I'd like to see this happen, except that OEL trade, he deserves better, but I cannot agree with you more.

I don't even know what to say. Ekman-Larsson plays for a young, underdeveloped (or bad, if you prefer) team, but he's a quality top-pairing defenseman. You've just bent Arizona over with that deal. You're also trading Krejci for Seabrook. That's 7 million dollars in one man until he's 39. I can almost guarantee you he won't be putting up a bunch of 40-point seasons when he's around Chara's age. Krejci centers your second line (I think?) and will probably put up more than Seabrook will. You also aren't stuck with Krejci's contract until he's almost in his 40s. Since the Ekman-Larsson trade doesn't happen (in any universe), let's say your Top 4 is Krug, McAvoy, Hjalmarsson, and Seabrook. Is that really an improvement worth sending away someone like Krejci?

Yes, Krejci is the Bruins 2nd line center, and is still productive. While his cap hit is 7.25M AAV, a bit high, he's signed until 2020-2021. Over the course there, assuming no career ending injuries, I am much more confident Krejci makes it there being productive, than Seabrook will make it until 2023-2024. For the minor cap relief the Bruins get here, they fill a position that isn't a need in RHD, deal a solid #2 center and replace him with Spooner, who is less than ideal there.

I’m assuming you weren’t interesred in the trades being realistic and just wanted to focus on the team assembled because....damn. So to answer your question. No. Not a cup contender, to weak in the middle after Bergy. And PS....the trades were really lopsided. Just in case you didn't know that.
