Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
This team has approx. 5 mil in available cap space in 2016-17 which allows for addition of rental player for salary dump for a long playoff run next year, also the multiple 2nd round picks help rebuild our almost dead last prospect pool. Also this team has more grit, with Holden addition, and more scoring touch, Eberle addition. Our top 6 is now legitimate all top 6 FWDs and allows Hayes and Miller to focus on their game and grow without the extra need to score big. The 4th line remains an issue with Glass but with 5 million in cap space the fourth line can be easily bolstered by adding a player like Killorn (TB) or Chiasson (OTT). Or Tambellini or even Jensen could take that role. Either way there is options. I will concede the weak spot is D with John Micheal-Liles, but he is a solid depth D and is only signed for 1 year. He is interchangeable with many other D-men but I chose him because he does have Offensive talent and with the loss of Yandle we need a bit more punch from the backend

Also, Kreider rights could be traded straight up for Boedeker's rights but that would give us too many FWDs but that's a good thing. Also, how do people feel about buying out Girardi, its a 1.75 mil cap hit for a long time but in a scenario like this it would fine and allow for the signing of a D-man like Goligoski for 5.5 mill and still allow for the RFA to get paid in a few years

Getting rid of Staal and his salary for a younger player with potential more upside is probably not realistic. Don't think a team like Avs would give up two assets for rental Yandle. Don't know Rangers would go for it either, aren't they in "go for it" mode.
Getting back to the Staal trade, wouldn't Edmonton be better to keep Eberle and sign a competent UFA? Yea, a lot better off.

If Kreider is traded it will be for another player, and he could fetch more than a 2nd rder.

Just what edmonton needs, another left shot D. They are loaded on the left side with Nurse, Klefbom, Rienhart, Sekera, and Davidson. Also Staal's almost 30 isn't he? No way edmonton makes that deal, especially when the likes of Shattenkirk and hamonic are possibly available.
