Anderson wouldnt have signed a 3 year deal if he wasnt happy in Columbus and hes said hes wanted to be here from the start lol, its not a bad trade but Anderson wont be traded. We dont need defense, we need scoring and thats what Anderson does with him being on the top line with Dubois and Panarin

I'd do the Sabres deal, just not sure it will help them. Might hurt them, Sabres need to worry about forward depth first. They got 16 goals out of the 9 forwards to play in their bottom 6 so far

As I said it was questionable whether he was happy or not. Barrie certainly provides additional scoring from the back end and with Columbus likely to lose JJ there could easily be some shuffling on the back end, but admittedly the need is more biased for the Avs in this trade. There is of course the option to add to the trade from either side to balance it out. Thanks for the comment though, appreciated.

Yep, it was a suggestion from someone else and would fit perfectly for the Avs profile but agreed it could hurt the Sabres,though it would potentially add more scoring from the back end. Maybe the Avs throw in something to help there to make it happen? Thanks for the comment.

Lawson Crouse isn't a "top prospect" anymore.

I would also say that you are leaving the impression that the return for Barrie is interchangeable in a vacuum. Meaning, I could trade Lawson Crouse for Johnathan Drouin.

I had intended the description to clear that up by saying they were possible targets and would need to be added to on either side, and they were targets that might fit what the Avs were looking for. As Dylan1995 suggested with Strome, the value of Barrie is higher so the Avs could get a guy who might fit their needs and then some for Barrie. Hopefully that clears it up for you and for future comments.

Agreed that Crouse is probably not a top prospect any longer and the 'Yotes would certainly need to add. Some guys just take longer though and given ice time to work things out on a young attacking team, who knows?

The trade itself value wise makes sense dont get me wrong but we have Jones and Werenski for offense on the back end and Nutivaara and Carlsson are emerging as Top 4 dmen, Barrie just doesnt make sense for CBJ with guys like Gavrikov, Carlsson, Peeke and Nuti all in the system or NHL, if I were the avs id try to get a return of defense prospects to keep building the future. The deal itself is fair it just doesnt make much sense for cbj dealing Andy who is on an amazing contract

Certainly fits the profile for the Avs, and it's likely it's going to be a top prospect forward between 18 & 23 (maybe up to 25) plus something with the Avs adding something for balance. I liked Ragsandbluesfan's idea of Reinhart plus a second for Barrie and a third a little better, purely because Reinhart is more proven and Nylander has had the early injuries stemming his progress. That said, a first pick, even at 18 overall, plus a prospect taken 8th overall is not to be sniffed at. I'd expect it to be a highly considered offer if it were made.
