I'm with you, hes past it, I get it. But they're gunna have to do something on that left side UFA wise this offseason.
Pretend you agree with this team otherwise, what would you do at that spot?

So Vanak's 32 pts is 2nd on Vancouver & would be 3rd on the Sabres and he could not help this team? I have seen this said about him numerous times and he did sign a rather low value contract, so maybe I am wrong. I think a line of Vanek-ROR-Pommenville could be very productive (two right handed shots with a left handed center), a top line of Kane-Eichel-Reinhart, a third line of Girgensons-Larsson-Okposo this year could have been a bit better than what we had. I thought it would have been good signing last year, but again I am most likely incorrect. Maybe Botterill is trying to finish last and get a shot at Rasmus Dahlin? We can only dream I guess.

I know the market for LW is somewhat flooded this year, with Jvr, Neal, Maroon, perron all possible but a 2nd and 2 "C" prospects (I am basing this grade on the Hockey writers ranking of the Ducks prospects) is not even close to what Botterill is currently asking.

I know Murray grossly over paid to get Lehner (it made my and Muckler's heads explode), but only a 3rd in return seems a bit low, I would not expect a 1st but a think a 2nd is about right.
