Risky Move, Then Continue to Draft and Develop
For me the value of this trade is really skewed in Edmonton's favour. I see your point in the cap savings, but still 1.3 million in savings to a Sabres team with plenty of other way worse contracts just doesnt cut it.
Larsson is a good starting point. But additional picks or prospects would have to be added to make this worth Buffalo's consideration.

Sure, the teams gunna carry 7 guys on the back end and the 7 best guys are going to play. Whoever that may be.

Moving pieces
Oglevie definitely heading to Rochester to start, I am with you on the 1st, 3rd and 4th lines. Here's hoping Nylander, Smith and Bailey earn those spots.

Sabres with Dahlin
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Jochi</b></div><div>The sharks would never do that deal. Who is dumb enough to trade a 1st round pick for a 2nd round pick? Also u r overpaying Lehner. Even with this team you will still be bottom 5 in the entire league. This really shows no upgrade besides Dahlin.</div></div>
The SJ trade is the conditional pick that the Sabres got in the Kane trade, he's saying that it turns into the first.

I'm with you, hes past it, I get it. But they're gunna have to do something on that left side UFA wise this offseason.
Pretend you agree with this team otherwise, what would you do at that spot?

Hard Work In Buffalo
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>FryesLeapMaine</b></div><div>Yeah I didn't delve that far into it to show their total depth chart as it's not the team I follow. That'd be a much larger wager than I was willing to bid because I'd surely have some guys out of place if I went all in. I clearly messed some stuff up as I picked a prospect that wasn't even on the team anymore. I was just attempting to move some pieces around in realistic trades with reasoning behind them in order to fairly build a team more capable of winning.
I can't believe no-one has referenced the Bogosian trade.... that was the main point to be made in this maneuvering: A way to get out of the contract while getting a surprise back. Not sure what Hjalmarsson will be, but even if he was the same or worse his contract is up sooner.
I never get this much feedback on any of my mocks, this is literally the worst one I've made and it's got the most action. Seems like the Carrot and the Stick, but they are in the opposite direction.</div></div>
I liked the Bogosian trade FWIW

Not supposed to be fair, a look at what matching the Sabres stated price is for him at this moment.

Mackenzie says these teams are interested!!! Comments
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Skyraider112</b></div><div>Any team who actually wants to win the cup will give up quite a lot for a goal scorer like Kane. He has so many assets: size, speed, shot, net-front presence, penalty killing, power-play, physicality. Tell me another player in the league who does all of those things as well as Kane does. Buffalo will absolutely be asking for a 1st a good prospect and maybe a 2nd for our best player</div></div>
Thats some serious wishful thinking, Kane's a great player who's clearly motivated by the fact its his contract year, but the reality is that every day that passes and the closer the deadline gets, the more the leverage shifts to the team the Sabres ultimately deal with. Furthermore, theres absolutely zero guarantee that Kane sees himself playing in Buffalo after this year.

Buffalo trade what do you think
Like it and could see it happening but would probably have to replace either sheahan or hagelin with a better prospect for the sabres to really bite.

Other penalty killers can be found, much more worried about opening up roster spots for guys coming up, Botterill has nothing invested in those two.
