Risky Move, Then Continue to Draft and Develop

Description
Sell Buffalo on having a veteran Swedish (countryman) shutdown D to help guide Dahlin in his first few years in the league, and a bit of cap savings to boot. Dahlin doesn't need help offensively, but Larsson could definitely help him learn how to play good defense in the NHL. Edmonton needs some RHD offense, so Ristolainen would fit well with them. The risk here is that I'm assuming Nurse will continue to improve and be the shutdown partner that Ristolainen needs, while hoping Ritolainen continues to progress defensively over the next couple years. Taking the risk of that unknown and the extra cap is the trad-off for Ristolainen's offensive potential. Both Ristolainen and Larsson are UFAs when their contracts expire. ---- Send Koskinen to the minors when Chia realizes it was a stupid signing and they can't afford him on the roster.

For me the value of this trade is really skewed in Edmonton's favour. I see your point in the cap savings, but still 1.3 million in savings to a Sabres team with plenty of other way worse contracts just doesnt cut it.
Larsson is a good starting point. But additional picks or prospects would have to be added to make this worth Buffalo's consideration.

i dont think i would make that trade if i was Edmonton. I think Larsson is one of the more underated defenceman. He had an off year last year due to injuries and personal issues, but is a complete package He led Sweden at the hockey championship in TOI. Yea Ristolainen is probably gonna get more points but i think Larsson brings more to the table .

Lol value is wayyy off Gm Botterill would laugh and hang up the phone. Risto is borderline elite, Larsson is at best an average defenseman

Yeah, I don't think this makes Edmonton's defense better. They'd score more points, but their goal differential would likely be worse.

Three people say this trade favours Buffalo, and three think it favours Edmonton. Makes me think that I might be right that it's a fairly even trade both ways lol.
