Description

I have seen both of these deals discussed on here and I think they make sense going into the deadline for the Flames potentially.....

I like adding Nate Thompson as he is a heavy big body that can win face offs and chip in a bit offensively. Being in the pacific we will likely have to battle ANA/SJ/LA and having a big C on the 4th line should add some much needed heaviness to that line. I love Stajan, but he just can't keep up anymore, excellent soldier and leader, but the game has passed him. Upgrading the 4th C is important to having depth for the playoffs if we want to make some noise.

As for Nelson/Stone swap. Andersson is all but banging the door over to get his shot on the team, I mean he is having an extremely strong year in the A. Thus Stone is expendable. The Islanders have some injury issues and questions about their blueline going forward and could probably benefit from a stable veteran presence to help with their playoff push.

Thompson is a 56% faceoff guy and has 11 points, he's a significant upgrade on Stajan who has 2 points. Nice move.

Also would love to add Nelson, honestly was really hoping Treliving would be able to include him in the Hamonic deal considering the price he paid
