Folin/Blidh just extra's....They could be filled with countless players. McIntyre is a question mark as well. In the first mock, I had him as the backup and if he has a good year, could see an extension, but is replaceable if he falters.

McDonagh deal was done in the offseason of year 1 for Zboril, Frederic, Senyshyn, 2018 First Round Pick.

I see your a big fan of McDonagh I like the trade but I think you are over paying for him you are essentially trading 4 First round picks I would take away one of Frederic or the 2018 first. I also think your over paying him by 1 mil or so but I like the idea and its rare to see an over payment on here.

You're trading 3 prospects and a 1st round pick. Once a player is drafted, he isn't a draft position anymore. He is a player with different potential than the pick holds. Nail Yakupov was the 1st overall pick. Does he still hold that value? Anders Bjork was a 5th round pick. Does he still hold that value? I'm just not a fan of that mindset when looking at a deal.

I'd love to be overpaying him by a million, as it would get Boston more cap-space. He makes 4.7M right now. 6.5M would be an increase of 1.8M in salary for the player. Seeing McDonagh is a top pairing defenseman and this will be his last big contract, I figured 7+ is the starting point for that type of player, with the cap going up. If he came in at 6.5M though, that'd be great. Chances this happens are slim to none, but it's nice to see a Bruins team capable of adding a big-time salary on defense and still have space and such to make moves. It's so hard to really do these mocks 2 years down the road since you have no idea what'll happen with drafting, and player development.

Thanks for the response. I do like McDonagh a lot, and feel he and McAvoy would be one epic top pairing for years to come. He also would succeed Chara, which I feel is a need.

I like the idea of McDonagh (evidence by the mock I did last week) and it certianly would be the type of "all-in" move that could put Boston over the top. I will say, its a tough pill to swallow on Seny. The kid has two things you can't teach and that's size and speed. If we could keep him out of the deal then I'd do it, but Zboril + Seny + Frederic + 1st just seems like so much to give. Maybe if McDonagh is coming with a signed sealed and delivered extension, but even then IDK if I want to give up that much....to a major rival no less.

I'm right there with you. I guess it's just a situation of Boston capitalizing on that deep prospect pool. While they move Senyshyn, Frederic, Zboril in this trade, they still have Donato, JFK, Studnicka, Lindgren, Lauzon, Vaakanainen, Cehlarik, Bjork, etc.. It's just not fair. Plus, while they move the 2018 first, they'd still have picks to restock with more prospects.

Oh its absolutely insane to think we could unload those prospects and still be loaded with young talent lol. IMO Seny just has that game-breaking speed that is so hard to defend and he's made HUGE strides this year in his 3-zone game. Honestly I'd rather give up a guy like Studnicka (who I think is a #2C), but 2-3 years away vs Senyshyn whose could be ready next season, maybe the season after.

I also like to keep young talent simply because as guys develop and require extensions, its easier to move them out if you have guys in the system who can take their spot.

Just a great all-around "problem" to have. We'll see how it goes. It's nice to enjoy the success of the team on top of being stacked. Something will have to give, as we've been saying. I really hate trying to project 2 years away. Hell i hate doing it just a year since you have no idea what could happen.

It is a great problem to have yet I like our youngsters, too much for McDonagh, he has not had a good year and I think he is on the decline. Check the pending free agents for depth there are some you can get for peanuts. I also think Chara has at least two more good years in him.

How hasn't McDonagh had a good year? He's on the decline at 27 years old?? You will need to make a move. The Bruins will not sit on all these players, they physically can't. They will need to make moves.

BreKel I like your mock-up a lot... the only, ONLY, thing I would critique is how much money you're throwing at Carlo. Maybe he turns his game around between now and then and he's worth 3.5, but I just don't see it right now. Maybe I underbid him in my mock-up (because I don't like the kid), but we'll see there's 2.5 seasons between now and then; he has a lot of time to develop. You have 1.64 in cap space remaining so I guess it's not that big of a deal. All in all I like what you've done here.

I think he comes in at 3-3.5M. I get he doesn’t produce a lot of offense but by then you assume he’s still a capable top 4 Defenseman. I’d take him cheaper though.
