Vermette isn't a 3rd line centre now, wouldn't want him as one a 38 year two year from now. No young Dermot? Colgliano has always been nice player but suddenly a first liner? Ben Smith at age 30 an NHLer? Mcclhinney still with the Leafs?

Cogliano has played 1st line minutes with Getzlaf and didn't look out of place... Vermette is (or was) one of the better FO guys in the league and a defensive forward. Thought it would be a good fit with Leafs on a purely defensive shutdown 3rd line. And Ben Smith would just sit in the press box. Likely get one of the kids up for injuries.
