I actually think this is a realistic trade that could work and makes sense for both teams

Ottawa could surely get a better trade offer than this for Hoffman.

This is as close as CGY can get to getting Hoffman without moving picks, I think that is a super reasonable trade and it's unfortunate that we would have to give up guys like Parsons and Dube, with the way Smith is playing this year I think that we have to make a big push. If we go into the depth charts then it becomes more reasonable, losing Dube up the middle stings but still leaves us with Monahan, Backlund*, Jankowski, Bennett*, Lazar, Phillips, Mangiapane, Shinkaruk, Lomberg Pribyl. Losing Fox still has our D cupboard looking strong with plenty of depth on both the right an left side. The one that is a little tougher to cope with is Parsons, with the way that goalies develop they're just a flash in the pan and you hope one works out, having quantity of prospects over quality can be ideal. All in all I think grabbing Hoffman this year would be amazing, we don't have the pick capital to do so, so we may have to dig into the prospect pool a little.
