A shot in the dark

Initial Creation Date: Feb. 7, 2018

Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Hanzal a gamble, but adds size and skill to the 4th line.
Islanders need depth currently on D and bring Martin back to solidify their 4th line.
A fair deal for Tanev, as Vancouver looks to the future.

This doesnt help us at all. Tanev isnt a top pairing dman, we have more then enough centres then to bring in hanzal, and islanders trade was too much of a dump

Tanev has also proven to be one of the most injury prone guys in the league, pacing for a 57 game season. Don't really want a guy on the top pairing who only plays on average like 55 games a season...

Not sure if the value is there for Dallas but I don't want to be paying a 4th line center 3 million AAV for the next 3 years. Leafs will be tight enough to the cap without having a 7 million dollar 4th line.

Hanzal likely has enough skill, and even with a slight rebound suggests he could slide into 3rd line spot after Bozak moves on. Excellent faceoff guy, PK, and even front net presence on the PP. Hearing Dallas is looking to move him, huge depth at center, and what part of 6'6", 230 lbs. do you think Babcock wouldn't like?
I understand the concern with Tanev's injury history, but still maintain he's exactly the type of Dman (shut down, tough minutes, PK, shot blocking, def. metrics) that pairs well with offensive guys like Reilly and Gardiner. Allows Hainsey to slide down and mentor the rookies (Borgman, Dermott) as well as lower his minutes and allow him to focus on the PK.
