it looks like a lot more than it actually is. 3 of those assets are not needed

basically the only 2 things valuable that the leafs are giving up are nielson and a second

It doesn't matter whether Leafs need them or not, They are still assets that desperate teams would trade for. Borgman and Neilsen are still young and developing, its too early to give up on them, as for Sosh and Gauthier, you can probably steal a 3rd rounder for them each. Its all about asset management mate. Tanev is honestly doo doo. Don't even bother focusing on him.

what makes you think tael sucks? reliable defensively, can be asked to play a more prominent offensive role if needed. Exactly what the team needs. He might not be a one, but a tanev-reilly pair(which was a pair for team north america at the world cup) could be deadly

He has a bad cap hit for a just stay at home dman, and is never healthy. Not worth it mate

hes at like 4 and a half mil, and he can be more than just a stay at home d man. he's been asked to play a defensive role, and he has excelled in that role. With a more offensively gifted team, i bet he puts up points and compliments reilly very well
