With the 2019 pick who would you pick? Massimo Rizzo? Kirby Dach? Tobias Bjornfot?

No one and I mean no one is giving a top 10 pick for Weber. Habs would be hard pressed to get a 1st for him right now with the season he has had and his contract.

Funny, when you try and trade guys for less, someone always says they're worth more. When you try to trade them for more they say, that player isn't worth anything. Everyone has their opinion I suppose. Guess that's why no one here is an actual GM.

By 2024 Montreal will be having cap issues, and Stanley Cup Rings.

Sounds good, that's the idea. Wanna talk about 2030?

If Weber goes to NYI they would become a perennial contender, they might accept for the top 10 pick, probably not Dal Colle and the 2nd though.

your right Weber has made the Habs a much better team since landing in Montreal he is one of the best. Much better when Subban .... where will the Islanders be sitting with Weber once Tavares walks...

He's had a pretty great season so far, especially becuase he has missed quite a few games and every single game he did play were played on an injured foot. And he's still managed to be more than 0.5 points per game while being solid defensively too.

If Weber gets back before the trade deadline, one might get a good trade for him. Seeing as that's next week, it's a bad bet. Can he play 15 games on a healthy pin before the end of the season? If so, don't kid yourself, Weber is still a very sought-after commodity. If the Habs were to make a deal with the Isles -- and it's a deal like Max and Weber that might get JT to sign long term there — the Habs would have to take back an anchor contract like Ladd and hope that he responds well to Julien. (I love the idea of a nasty line of Ladd-Shaw-Deslaurier.)

Stop talking out your ass, though: Weber is one year past being the #6 vote getter for the Norris. This is the first season he has missed more than 4 games. There's not a GM in the league that wouldn't harvest a testicle to have him in the lineup if they could find a way to make it happen. Habs have oodles of space. Eat $3M and the suddenly Weber is a top-minutes guy costing <$5M. If the Habs are rebuilding, they'd never notice the cap hit.

I agree that the Isles with Weber and a decent goalie would be touch to beat. The idea I have been playing with is Weber and Max for the two 2018 picks (#10 and #14, I think) and Bellows. Dal Colle is a McCarron-level bust. He might well play in the NHL someday, but he's never likely to be the sum of his parts to the point where he earns his top-5-pick status. .

Snow would need to have JT's signature on a contract conditional on getting Weber and Max or the deal would be one step up and two steps back.
