That's not a good trade for montreal, but agree it would make Edmonton good

Montreal gets a 1C, a top pairing dman and a starting goalie, EDM gets a year of Pacioretty, a year of a 3rd pairing dman and Price, which puts them at $23M for just their 1C and goalie. Edmonton would easily turn this down. And no, not even adding the mighty Paul Byron in return for a 3rd would sway them.

No way is Draisaitl leaving edm, Klefbom is a top pairing shutdown LHD. I agree paul byron doesn't help this get done. Cam talbot will not win us games they Price does.. Edmonton will still be in need of defence (even more now) we will still need a rhd and 2c and now will have goalie issues. I dont see this helping the habs. In Edmonton they will have a gamebreaker in net, and top end winger to go with mcdavid and RNH can move up to play 2C so they will get better but will still need to address their d (but overall will be better)

You have to remember Pacioretty is only signed for one more year. Draisaitl is signed until 2025, Klefbom until 2023... They also are left with Nurse, Larsson, Benning. There's their future d-core.

We have Weber, Petry, Juulsen... Why do we need a RD? We have Danault, Hudon, Poehling's coming, maybe even Drouin in that spot if Draisaitl was the 1C... Why do we need a 2C? We have a Talbot-Lindgren tandem. This is Talbot's first rough season, but look how the team in front of him is playing. He's a more than adequate starter and you have Lindgren being groomed into the starter role... Why do we need a G?

This just sets up MTL much better than EDM going forward, so it's an easy no for them.

top 4 RD because outside of webber we have nothing, I know petery is a good puck moving d man but he is a liability in the d zone and is slowwwww. Juulsen is not top 4 and needs development. That can be fixed with Boqvist being drafted.
2c need because Druoin (shown he is not a center) hudon (really?), daneault (maybe 2c at best but a better 3c). They just signed Kleffbloom and Draisitl they will not trade them.

Pleck to Pits i will assume didn't happen and he could play 2c for this year and re-sign for 2-2.5m and play 4c next year (and the return is terrible)

We currently (this year) get scored on less than edmonton and they most certainly have a better d core than we do. This is taking into account the last couple of blow outs we have suffered as well.

Would you rather have talbot or price?
Do you think the impact Draisitl would make would make up for the difference Price makes?
Do you think Draisitl will produce more than patch?

MTL gets worse at G and back up stays the same, and wing (decent depth to deal and better at center and does not get the puck moving d man they need they get a shut down d man albeit it does make the d better
EDM gets worse at D (but they have good depth to deal with that) and Center (but they have good depth to deal with that) Then they get better at G and Wing.
