<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>willowkink</b></div><div>Ok how about karlsson deal</div></div>
by Coga's argument that Jost will not be moved as Sakic said so and he is embracing the Youth movement and has said Jost is part of the future core, Jost wont be moved for Karlsson either.
It would also take Jost and a lot more to land Karlsson and even that i would not give them back their 1st round pick LOL. I am not a fan of either team and I am looking at it impartially. Fans tend to over value everything they have and under value other teams assets. I dont see theses teams hooking up again for a trade for a while as most people think Sakic fleeced the sens (he sure did and good on him).

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>TJTwolf</b></div><div>If I were Sakic I'd be more likely to offer maybe Kerfoot plus COL 1st (Maybe even Kaut plus COL 1st if the Sens are looking for potential for the future) for Stone. Kerfoot is a little more proven points-wise, had good chemistry with Duchene before Duchene got traded to OTT, and even though he maybe doesn't have the potential ceiling that Jost has would be a more sensible offer for a pending UFA. Ottawa gets a first round pick back, and a guy who can put up points with chemistry with their top centre, and removes a potential headache. The first is an improvement on the second whilst Kerfoot's potential ceiling is lower than Jost's but production so far is higher. It would also help Colorado in that it means they still keep a first round pick and it's Ottawa's pick which is probably going to be higher than Colorado's own, and clears a spot for the likes of Kaut, Kamenev or Shvyryov.</div></div>
with how bad the sens are going to be there is no way they get that pick back. Hughes will be better than Jost if they manage to win the lottery and him.

Sorry youre wrong on that one</div></div>
and what he says is gospel and will be 100% the truth because executives don't stretch the truth ever to inflate value. Stone is better and is in his prime so if they want to win now Stone would be a better asset and the avs would still not be selling the future with trading for him.

If the 'Great One' could be traded then as far as I'm concerned anybody can be. I think if the price is right then anybody can be moved and I'd have to consider this one if I were Sakic. I repeat though, only consider, but I'd have to give it a lot of thought. Jost has a LOT of potential.</div></div>
A lot of potential. Thats what it is and i think he will be good. Stone is proven and might put them over the top.

Ek in buffalo
I agree with all you said, my thoughts were that Ottawa is rebuilding and wants to re-make a core so I went with the younger cheaper option as their owner is pretty cheap. With goalie prospects you never know so to have a extra that might be better than what you already have in the cupboard would not hurt. Scandella is a decent all round defencemen that doesn't have a huge hit to the cap and can play the minutes of EK leaving and the pick with Nylander are the gems in this deal. I tried more to look at it from both sides of the deal and I think they would prefer Nylander. But I'm no GM so who knows.

for Stone they would move Jost, Jost is good for sure but stone is better is only 26, and has the size a ability to play the game a long time. Jost is only 5.11. Stone would be a core building block in his replacement.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Bluetomorrow83</b></div><div>They have enough to sign Nurse currently. Next offseason will be the year of shedding Sekera and Russell NMC are modified and Lucic gets 1 last big bonus on July 1 then is a 3-4M a year actual dollar contract. There can be a ton of free space after next year so they won't be giving away a lot to shed dumps</div></div>
so if all things stay stays Quo this year.
Next year Lucic is still a 6m cap hit regardless of actual dollars, then you have to see if you can get one of the 10 and 15 teams they chose to actually want to take them and have the cap space to do the trade and then still need to sign Puljujarvi and sign at least 1 goalie as you might have a rookie ready to be a back up or sign a cheap back up and a starter.
Also assuming they let the other 4 roster RFAs walk or give them no pay raise.
I think your outlook of a ton of cap space is not very accurate and if someone was willing to pick up Lucic they would jump at the chance. Your team with a good goalie is a contender.

as an oilers fan you say a second round pick wich isn't bad but it probably means it will end up more. The moves give them the cap space to sign their RFA d-man that they need to.

Even with Ryan this team is still a bottom feeder and will not make the playoffs, I don;'t think he makes them better. Managers don't throw away futures to barely make the playoffs especially at the deadline we will be looking at being bottom three in the league anyway. We are sellers don't kid yourself, we are not bobby ryan away from the playoffs lol

ya a shot a second shot a hughes would be nice since we should be the two worst teams in the nhl this year, a potential 1st overall and 2nd overall pick in a strong draft could help turn around the future of the team. Its a hard choice but i would do this

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>skriko</b></div><div>you dont understand hockey do yah ??,,, anybody that has ever played knows you make the playoffs at all cost</div></div>
i agree the players might think that way but players don't make management/future decisions for the team. Patch is going to be gone before the season or in a worst case scenario the deadline so we don't lose him for nothing, Hudon has potential and Ryan has nothing. The only way Ryan should come here is with picks as a cap dump from Ottawa that might help them and another team get a trade for Karlsson done. We will be looking at the standings from the bottom so there will be no need for a push for the playoffs. I think GOLDENDELICIOS has a good understanding of this.

Filling in holes
In a deep draft, as a potential lottery team we have no picks in the first two rounds, why would a rebuilding ream take on EK, He isn't going to sign long term and we give up futures for him for 1 year and a cap dump in Ryan. I would like to be a third wheel in a trade that gets montreal some draft picks and Ryan or a minor prospect and Ryan for giving up nothing but cap space and maybe schlemenco or benn. to help a team land Karlsson.

They are pretty good comparisons (kane and patch) kane has age but a documented horrible attitude, if you haven't seen the Canadians play patch has been on a horrible team for a while as well with o center support
