Description
I think bringing back Kruger will help this team significantly. Kruger was always an ace for the Hawks - the guy couldn't score if his life depended on it however he's an excellent defensive forward and is superb at faceoffs - two areas the Hawks have struggled in this season. And no doubt Anisimov could get Kruger & TVR back to Chicago.

I think James Van Riemsdyk would be an ideal 2nd line LW to play next to Schmaltz, so I think a line of JVR-Schmaltz-Kane could do some damage if they click.

I think if the Hawks get a top 5 pick and Dahlin and Tkachuk are off the board that Andrei Svechnikov would fit this team like a glove - he is similar to Panarin and he could step right into the NHL and play in the top 6.

Obviously the Hawks defense has struggled this season, and I'm not so sure that the Hawks need a Carlson - I think a better solution would be to bring back TVR (he was fine with the Hawks) then sign a guy like Thomas Hickey that is a reliable #3-4 defenseman..... I also think it wouldn't be out of the question if Henri Jokiharju made this team... He's like a man among boys with the Winter Hawks.

Also, Bowman may want to consider signing a legitimate backup with NHL experience.. I do like Forsberg but perhaps he needs another year in the AHL...

I believe a team that looks like this would be a significant upgrade from the crap that's on the ice presently.. This team has lots of depth and lots of options and combination. Also there is plenty of cap space left for trade deadline deals or to improve if improvements need to be made during the season.

I think a team like this has the potential to make a deep run if the lines click.

I think the Hutton and JVR signings are super realistic, but I don't think there is any way that Anisimov brings back that package. I think if you remove the first rounder and make it like a 3rd than that will be a pretty fair deal. I also don't think the Hawks will be able to tank far enough to get into the top five unless they get a lottery pick. Overall good job

i think anisimov does get that package because kruger is not worth that 3.08m a year cap hit. if carolina were to retain say 700k a year, then sure i think that first goes down to a 3rd.

Either way I think the Hawks would be a better team with Kruger & TVR than with Anisimov.... Regardless of the picks, I don't see why Carolina wouldn't jump on a trade like this. They sent Kruger to the AHL and TVR is nothing special but both played roles with the Hawks - especially Kruger.

Regardless, I hope Bowman plans on bringing Kruger back this summer because it wouldn't take much, and this season has shown just how much the Hawks miss Kruger.

I'd like to see you make a team. You're good at ripping down other teams. I'm still very surprised that you changed your mind on any AA Kruger trade in any form. This is what I was proposing and yet "Thank God I'm not a GM."

I like james vanreimsdyk on the second line with smaltz and kane . i think your asking to much out of sikura and svenchikov also tvr very overated he is no more then a fifth or sixth dman on most teams .Our defence needs way more then what tvr can bring and hickey is not much better . Kruger at 3.1 million is overpaid by 50 percent do not bring him back . Loved him in the playoffs but his offence has really regressed 2 or three goals a year for three million is crazy he cleared waivers no one wants him even for free that is one horrible contract . If you trade AA you can better use cap savings to sign or acquire a mobile dman . This season shows just how important CC is to this team with the current defence

TvR is an experienced bottom paring (#5-6) defensemen that is usually very responsible and he can eat some minutes on occasion, something the Hawk have lacked this season... And Kruger, it is beyond clear to me that the Hawks are missing Kruger... I could care less how much he scores - Kruger's strength is on the dot, on the PK and grinding - not with the puck on his stick... Is Kruger overpaid? sure, but what he does is invaluable so I would forgive that contract considering he's an elite defensive forward.

Like TvR Hickey is a fine cheap responsible and experienced #4-5 defenseman that can play 18 minutes night and that's what the Hawks need. What really hurt the blue line this season is the lack of experience.. The only guys we have back there with any experience are Keith, Seabrook & Murphy - the other 5 defenseman Quinneville has used this season have a combined 154 NHL games between the 5 before this season... So yeah a guy like Hickey would be more than welcome on a blue line with almost no experience..

Honestly, I don't know what Bowman was thinking while assembling this inexperienced defense, and you can bet Q wasn't happy at all. Because it's clear to me that the lack of experience took it's toll on any playoff hopes this team may have had -- that and lack of defensive forwards.... So it's really defensively where the Hawks have hurt and need to improve... Losing defensive studs like Hossa, Hjalmarsson & Kruger and replacing them with basically nothing was not sustainable. What this team needs is experienced defensemen and experienced two-way or at least defensive forwards. If Bowman can address those issues then Iike the Hawks chances at a deep run next season.

Also, Svechnikov is NHL ready and a Panarin clone IMO... I don't know where he would slot in but it would certainly be in the top 6... Of course this is only if the Hawks end up with at top 5 pick and select him. But outside of Brady Tkachuk and Rasmus Dahlin he would be the guy I would take if those 2 were off the board.

i never said i did not like Svechnikov i said you would be asking a lot of him and sikura to make the jump to pro . center is a very demanding position especially on quenneville coached teams sikura has never taken a faceoff at the pro level and is not known for his defensive play at the ncaa level . your second and third lines have no proven defensively responsible players q would never except or ok this lineup .

ya because you want to trade a #2C for a 4C who cant score to save his life and is paid like a 3C. Stop being so butthurt and go cry at your safe place. I'd love for you to make a team too. probably can't even ice skate let alone play hockey.

Sure, forget about the 13th overall pick and puck moving dman...yeah...pretty much sums you up as a person.

Well, you better believe Sikura isn't going to see any time in the AHL... As it is I've been reading that Sikura is thinking about not signing with Chicago and doing the UFA route.. So if he's signed by the Hawks he will certainly be promised a roster spot on the big club.

As far as Svechnikov, he's NHL ready.... Will he be a "star" right off the bat? no, but he would certainly be the Hawks second most skilled RW'er behind Kane...Svechnikov is a top 6 player and if he's not going to play in the top 6 then sending him back to juniors would be a better solution, but the kid is too skilled for Juniors, but giving him 3rd line minutes and PP time would be setting back his development.. Of course these are decisions for the Hawks brass to determine.
