Realistic Tanev trade

Created by: RC333
Team: 2017-18 Vancouver Canucks
Initial Creation Date: Feb. 18, 2018
Published: Feb. 18, 2018
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Friedman recently said that canucks aren't looking to shop Tanev but Toronto is really interested.

They have also said that there's way more buyers than sellers which will bring up the price.

Benning seems to want to resign Gudbranson and with stechers great play recently it would make Tanev expendable.

Friedman said that tanevs value is a 1st and a really good prospect.

A Toronto 1st and liljegren is a fair deal.
Downside for canucks is that liljegren might not be able to convert his AHL success to NHL success. And the downside for Toronto may be Tanev health.

Both trades have positives too as Tanev can be elite shutdown defender that ignites his chemistry with Reilly like at the WC. It could also bring out riellys true potential. Plus Toronto's weakspot is defence and if that's fixed they are contenders. And with Canucks, they could draft a stud in the draft and liljegren could turn into a top 4 guy.

I think this fair especially since you can start a bidding war for Tanev. Just not sure if Toronto is willing to give up Liljegren. Alternative would be a 1st round pick, Dermott and 2nd round pick.

No, I don't think it's a fair deal. Only on this site where Tanev is traded to the Leafs 95% of time, do folks think Tanev is so desired by the Leafs. Liljegren isn't being traded as is looked as a long term solution. Dermot isn't being traded as he is looked as the long term replacement for Gardiner. Heck the injured Tanev, can't even be considered short term help.

Ur clueless if u don't think that's a fair trade.

And it doesn't matter if u don't want him because Toronto's the team that keeps calling Vancouver

I personally agree with you on some of your points and think Tampa would be a better destination as they have more to give and less to lose

I'm glad you have a phone tap on Lou's phone that you know the Leafs are calling Vancouver. As you suggest in your last line, a true contender might value Tanev more

Actually all it takes is research which is what I do, and what u don't do. You just go off ur biased opinions smile

And like I said and what I think we can both agree on is that Tanev would be much better suited for Tampa but I think Tampa is going for karlsson.

Toronto would be a great place for Tanev put I don't see them coughing up what's fair. But that's fine with me because Toronto's only gap is defence and if they can't fill that void then I don't see them winning anytime soon.

I agree with @palhal here. Tanev is extremely overrated, and I think that is why you only see Vancouver fans trading Tanev and Gudbranson to Toronto for their top Specs + high pics.

Your "research"? Your research consists of what is written on social and print media and you think it's the truth. Or listen to sportscasters (entertainers) who are trying to convey they are "insiders" when they really know squat.
I'm sure the Canucks management is putting out all this talk about how many teams are inquiring about Tanev, and Gudbranson.....hey that's fair, they are trying to get the price raised. Truth is no one really knows.
And Tanev, even when he on the ice, isn't going to change the fortunes of the Leafs this year or next. My opinion any good organization (the Leafs) would prefer to keep their pick(s) or young assets, and spend the Tanev money or other players.
My research is my informed opinion. And it can change as I see different facts in a scenario. Your research is based upon a bunch of misrepresentations are various media sites. Hardly factual research at all. Hardly your own thoughtful opinion.
