No, but adding first rounders to everything doesn't get you star players

Was Yakupov coming off of double hernia surgery? (you know, the one that is similar to what Giroux had last year, when he probably played at 50% his ability) Did Yakupov not have any conditioning over the summer because of said surgery? Did Yakupov play on a line with Dale Weise? You can look at numbers all day, but they don't matter if you don't look at the context behind them.

Galchenyuk was coming off of knee surgery and put up 27 points in 48 games so no excuses

I wouldn't trade Nolan Patrick for any of those assets coming back to Philadelphia. His ceiling is unreal since around January, where he is posting similar production per hour as Nico Hischier.

Insane overpayment for Erik Karlsson. Morgan Frost was traded for, so GM Ron Hextall has a vision for the kid and isn't going to sell him for a position that he has spend three straight years of 1st round picks on.

Yeah, those injuries are not even close to being the same. Having being misdiagnosed and then having correctional surgery is not a recipe for putting skeptics in their place. Sam Gagner had 7 points in his first game. How is he doing right now? The context is all in the pudding - look at Giroux, Gostisbehere - they had similar surgeries and had analysts saying that they were declining or having a sophomore slump. Now Giroux is on pace for 95 points and Gostisbehere is thriving offensively and defensively.

The Flyers are not trading Patrick for a winger who isn't that good and a goalie we have no use for. That Karlsson trade is definitely NHL 18 worthy, not happening. The Flyers wouldn't do it anyway.

The Flyers would not be able to afford signing Karlsson, Pacioretty, plus make an offer to Tavares, and re-sign Simmonds and all the young guys they need to sign.
