Description
I'm not a Sens fan but if I'm the GM right now I'd admit defeat and push the rebuild button hard.

I think all the trades are in the right ballpark of value and teams looking to acquire them aren't going to be wanting to give up too much in terms of current productive roster players.

Then Sens end up with 4 first round picks plus they'll be deferring their own 1st until next season (I guess they could be split over different draft years but whatever.

In Charbot, Sanheim, and Fabbro there is the core of an excellent very talented defence. Korpisalo adds a young goaltender who has shown some good flashes. And with Frost and Tolvanen you have a great playmaker and a great shooter to bring in with White over the nest year or two. Jenner is a decent younger guy you'd look to fill out the top 9 and Milano is a decent prospect with NHL experience.

You could maybe look to trade Brassard and one or two others but you need some roster players left and the return wouldn't be that great. You also just have to eat Ryan's deal, you shouldn't be giving up good assets to move a bad contract while in a rebuild.

In no universe are two high end prospects and a 1st round pick are going to Ottawa in that Hoffman trade.

Yeah looking at it again I'd agree. Maybe take one of those pieces out and it's probably closer?

Reportedly Pierre Dorion wants 5-7 pieces for Erik Karlsson, That's not enough for arguably the best D man in the game.

Sure but that's just talk rumour and gossip. No one is giving up 7 high assets for a player mostly because teams don't have that many top quality prospects and picks. Add in a few middling prospects the Flyers have if need be but that offer is a very very strong core deal.

Sanheim is NHL ready and scoring at pace that hasn't been seen from a young defender in the AHL since the 1980's. It's a travesty he's not on our NHL roster frankly. Frost is second in scoring in the OHL and first in primary points so it's not even as though his numbers are artificially inflated by others around him. They are both bluechip prospects.

5-7 assets means lowering the quality of each because no one has 5-7 Sanheim's and Frost's to trade away. Take one of them out and add two slightly lesser prospects and you get to 5 pieces. I.e. we'll keep Frost and put Rubtsov and Morin in instead. Both former first round picks but not in the same league as Frost or Sanheim.

Reportedly Bobby Ryan is being added to the Karlsson deal so the 5-7 pieces would be for both, Not just Erik Karlsson but one would imagine that Ryan would lower Karlsson's value just because of his bad contract being added.

Yeah I did another Armchair GM trade for the Flyers toying with a 7 piece trade for Karlsson and Ryan. I think it'd be a huge mistake for Ottawa to chain Ryan to the Karlsson deal though imo.
