this is a deal for McDonagh I could swallow if they could come to terms in principal to a reasonable extension price for this summer. Think Bracco is going to be a stud but to much depth on the wing

Wow thats a really bad underpayment. 2 low end AHL players a 1st and a 3rd for a #1 defenseman?

Bracco is not a low end AHL player... I dont mind the deal but id rather see nyr get Lilijegren back instead of the 3rd and Rosen

Mcdonagh is no where near a #1 Dman. Bracco is 21 years old and was a 2nd Round Pick, Roesen is young and very good. Wouldn’t call them low end ahl players.

McDonagh is definitely 100% a number 1 defenseman on most teams. Bracco has 4 goals 16 points in 31 games on the best team in the AHL and one of the best teams in AHL history. Rosen was a free agent signing and was only good enough to play 4 games in the NHL this year on a team who has a bad defensive core.

You are clearly uneducated on the leafs. Bracco barley plays because the team is so good, so although it’s 31 games, he gets about 10 minutes a game. Toronto’s defensive core doesn’t not have a star, but it’s far from weak. Roesen could play in the nhl this year, but the depth of Toronto’s blue line is so good so there was no room for him. He’s doing good in te ahl this year.

if rangers trade their franchise defenseman, it'll be for a lot. liljegren and a 1st rd pick have to at least come back the other way. rangers should hit a home run with a trade involving mcdonagh. they wont undersell. he's only 28. still have plenty of good seasons ahead of him. in leafs fans opinion, as soon as u turn 27, ur old

That’s not at all the case. Nobody said he was old, so not sure where that’s coming from. New York is in a Rebuild so why not add 4 young good pieces?

not saying ppl in this post said he's old, but living in toronto and surrounded by leafs fans, they think he's old. i think every gm wants 4 good pieces, but rangers could run away with 3 very good pieces if they trade him

It’s not like it’s a star defenceman. It’s a solid #2 guy. Shouldn’t cost an arm and a leg to get him.

considering the market for defensemen, and the money he makes, he's probably the hottest defensemen explicitly available out there. so rangers can fetch a lot for him.

You're only 1/2 right.
Yes he has 16 in 31 games... as a rookie on the 3rd or 4th line...

The Leafs have a bad defensive core that's in the top 1/2 in the league in GAA... but sure let's say you're right... which you aren't but let's just say... we have Rielly, Gardiner, Dermott, Borgman on the left side... I don't think that's the problem (which btw could be the reason why Rosen is in the minors).
Hainsey
Zaitsev
Carrick
POLAK
Ding ding ding we have a winner.
