So im not saying all these trades will happened, but just some ideas that make sense to me.

The first is to get Hjalmarsson. Arizona is well out of the playoffs is still rebuilding. Whilr carrick is younger and the second rounder we give up is a high price, we get a vetran defenseman that can play defense really well at 3 million for this year and the next.

Next, we give up Bozak and polak for Sheahan, Cole and a second. This would give Pittsburgh the number 3 centre they need for a fairly decent price. In return, Toronto gets a long term 4C, a solid number 7 defensman and a pick.

Next, we give up Leivo, Gauthier and a second for Strome. While i want to eventually see Nylander at C, he and Matthews are tearing it up. Hence, for the cost of a potential middle 6 winger, a 4C and a second, we get a long term 3C option.

Next, we trade Martin and Pickard to the Islanders for Kulemin and a second. We dont need Martin anymore and Pickard is wasting away in the AHL. Might as well get something for them even if we have to take on a dump right now.

Finally, I traded JVR not because I want to but because it makes sense to. In return for him, Toronto gets a 1st rounder, a prospect and a depth 4C.

By doing all these trades, our next year’s lines could look a bit like:
