Description
Basing off "deadline cap space" this deal actually works cap wise. Lightning projected to have $9.7 million in deadline cap space. Karlsson's 6.5 is easily fit in combined with Andrej Sustr's departure to OTT.

I don't see Ottawa getting a good current roster piece. The Ryan contract hurts the total deal valuation.

San Jose could be replaced with Vegas, have seen both to be rumored to be possibly involved in taking on Ryan.

But they want to be involved in the John Tavares derby in the summer. They wouldn't take on a 7.25mil contract in that scenario.

Trade isn't enough back to Ottawa anyway.

It's been reported that Pierre Dorion will not retain on Bobby Ryan you take him as is.

Anything involving Ryan is a big no. It also doesn't help Melnyk wants to save every penny he can which means he won't retain.
