Kane has the kind of character that would ask for an upwards 6 mill or more, and his play allows leverage for him to get that on the open market. So don’t expect anywhere near 5.7 mill for his signing. 6 mill at least on the open market.

40 points in 61 games and being buried on the 3rd line does not equate to $6 mil. If a team wants to pay him that then please feel free.

I guess people don't think that paying a D man $10+ mil a year will be a problem cap wise.

40 points/61 points on the 3rd line of a bottom 3 team just proved my point.. as well as thinking he’s been a 3rd liner his whole time in Buffalo is absurd, he’s not at all a 3rd liner, just because he played a few games on the 3rd line lol. You honestly think he can’t get 6 mill per season? Lol he can definitely get it on the open market. 5.7 mill is probably what Buffalo is offering him to resign, coming off his 5.2 contract.

I know he hasn't been on the third line all year but that is where is has been recently. He hasn't shown that he is worth $6 mil and if he gets it then a team is overpaying. So what if BUF is offering that, who would want to play in that town/organization?

agree, gotta pay up for a goal scoring forward entering their prime.

similar situation to marleau, who got $6M in free agency last year

kane is younger so id guess somewhere on the lower end of the $6-7 million range but with longer term

If a GM pays him that then they should be put on the hot seat.
