Created by: Mitch_in_Vic
Team: 2017-18 Vancouver Canucks
Initial Creation Date: Feb. 25, 2018
Published: Feb. 25, 2018
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Trades
1.
VAN
  1. 2018 3rd round pick (OTT)
  2. 2019 2nd round pick (PIT)
2.
ARI
  1. Hutton, Ben
Additional Details:
Both are solid players but are struggling with their current teams after 1st year success.
3.
VAN
  1. 2018 2nd round pick (LAK)
  2. 2018 4th round pick (LAK)
LAK
  1. Nilsson, Anders ($1,000,000 retained)
4.
VAN
  1. Liljegren, Timothy
  2. 2018 3rd round pick (SJS)
  3. 2019 4th round pick (STL)
Additional Details:
All rumors i have seen have placed either Lijegran of Dermot as the likely cost of getting Tanev out of Vancouver. Dermot is a little further along in his development and can realistically make an impact with the Buds this year and for the next couple. Liljegran has an outside chance of making the team next year and likely needs a year or 2 in the AHL.
TOR
  1. Tanev, Christopher ($1,500,000 retained)

Why pull Tanev out of Vancouver? If anything, Couver should have interest in getting rid of him before he’s dealt. He’s injury-prone, and Liljegren and Dermott are Great prospects

Pretty sure PIT is done and have no interest in Vanek....Maybe ANA.
Gonna have to add a little more to get Domi.
Don't think LA has any interest in getting a goalie at the deadline....Quick or bust. Then they just pick up a UFA goalie for cheap in the offseason.
Tanev deal.....a 3rd and a 4th??? Minimum VAN should accept would be Liljegren and a couple 2nds. Cheers. Check out my trades.... https://www.capfriendly.com/forums/thread/116789&post_id=375157

Ok here's the deal...
You're pushing the Vanek one...but still possible

Domi Hutton...Domi turning 23 Hutton turning 25...Domi 1st rd Hutton 5th rd....higher ceiling on Domi and 2 years younger....i think they'll want a much better offer or play the wait and see game on him...if Hutton would show that he was a point producer throughout his junior and pro career maybe they think about it...but i can't see them doing that.

Tanev...that might work...although they gonna try and shove 2 much lower ceiling dmen on you...and a few Leaf fans will think you're crazy for the offer.

That makes no sense. Van should get rid of him before he's dealt?
Also, those are the rumours coming out of Leafs circles. Tanev is apparently very high on the list for TO beat writers. ??‍♂️

It depends on how Phx values Domi right now, and draft position really means nothing 3years out on a struggling player, are you telling me Virtanen is worth more than David Pastrnak because he was drafted higher? Both players are struggling, both players have high ceilings, Domi's *might* be higher but they also play different positions, so...

I didn't want to be too greedy on the Tanev deal, I agree with you but I wanted to aim a bit lower and get feedback first.

See above for Hutton/Domi deal. Also Hutton produced 25pts in his rookie year, which was great for a dman on a team and crappy as Van.

Leaf fans... ??‍♂️
Oh, we all know they expect every player in the world wants to play at the "centre of the hockey universe," and that every other team will take their trash in return for blue chip players and prospects.

Just gonna make a small point...for me their is a difference in draft position but not if someone goes a round earlier or a round later...but someone going in the first as compared to someone going in the 4th or 5th will play a difference in decision making, right or wrong theirs a reason he was drafted in the 1st round and they'll be more patient as compared to someone in the 5th

Not saying that's not true, but again that depends on how they are valuing him right now. His number are well down from their expectations and his projected development curve. I personally think anything more than Hutton is overpaying, but then again, everyone thought Calgary was fleacing Vancouver on the Baertschi/Shinkaruk deal.... I think the swap would pay off and would be fairly even for both teams in the long term.
