How are they going to trade Lucic? 6 million buy out a proof contract with an NMC for a player that looks like his skates are made out of cement.

I'm a fan of Rutta if he's $2M cheaper. Started hot with Chicago but he's tailed off. Not big on Grabner's term either, he skates brain-first into every situation, but getting him at that price is a steal. Nurse deal is off by about $500k. He probably gets around Klefbom money. I wouldn't give Benning more than $950k after the season he's had either. Caggiula being gifted #2LW minutes scares me, but there's almost nothing this iteration of the roster could do to remedy that. Any chance you look at buying out Russell to free up an extra $3M and use some extra money on a different winger?

buying out russel unfortunately isn't an option a few people have tried on here and it worsens the cap hell by alot.

He costs roughly $611k against the cap in the 2019 season, $1.1M the next season, $3.6M the thrid, then $1.1M again for the next three years. That's one bad year money-wise instead of 3 more years of terrible #5 defenseman.

Anytime you can knock a year off before buying a player out makes a difference, in this lineup Russel and Lucic are pretty well sheltered but yeah absolutely would I like to see them not in an Oilers uniform anymore
