No doubt, but adding Patches gives them a much better chance at the cup then Dubois in the near future. Just depends on their priorities, Dubois will take another year or two tow fully develop. Both are great players.

A year ago you might have gotten away with that deal but Dubois has really matured and in listening to Kekäläinen this week, his 200 ft. overall game "makes him elite"! No chance they move him at all!

I like the thought for Montreal, but not for CBJ. Sure, Pacioretty’s a great winger, but so are Panarin, Foligno, and Atkinson. Dubois is their future down the middle, and Panarin, Foligno, and Atkinson are the present and future on the wings. They could use another top 6 Forward, but they need centres.

Given how well Patches and Torts got along when Torts was coaching him as part of Team USA, I want to be in the room when this trade is proposed just to learn all the new four letter word combos Torts can teach me.

I keep seeing posts about habs trading for Dubois, habs fans really need to accept CBJ won't ever trade Dubois. He is their 1C, an amazing one at that

The logic is flawed. How does having Patches over Dubois help the CBJ get closer to a Cup? This season, Patches has played 8 fewer games, and has scored 2 more goals than Dubois, same number or assists. Dubois has growth potential, even next year a lot more than Patches.
Wow. Canadien fans have two obsessions. Trading for Dubois (and paying too little) and trading Patches (and expecting too much)
