Not sure why you'd want lindholm @ 4 mil when taking on Tavares when you could just keep Heinen or Bjork on an entry-level deal

TRADES:

I get that the Krejci trade is made to get Tavares under contract, but the you jumped out of a boat, and missed water......

That is a serious serious over-payment. for Lindholm. On top of Krejci, our #2 centerman, you're trading a young NHL forward who is going to put up what, 42-50 points in his rookie season? You're also trading a high end prospect in Bjork. Why are we dealing all that? I hope this isn't one of those, "Krejci is a bad contract so you'll need to offer more to the other team so they take him". Because if it is, that's brutal. Krejci certainly is not a player who will need high end pieces added, just to be moved. If that wasn't the point of the trade, and you felt this was fair? Good lord.....Talk about overvaluing Lindholm. I wouldn't trade Heinen/Krejci, alone, for Lindholm. You're offering BOTH + Bjork? I don't get it. At that point, I'd want a defenseman coming back as the main piece.

SIGNINGS/RE-SIGNINGS:

You underpaid Chara. I don't see him signing for 3M. He'll get a 4-5M, 1-2 year deal (hoping 1) and that'll be that. If they got him for 3? Excellent, but I'm not sure why he's going to take that. Kuraly for 1.3M is very meh. I feel that's a slight overpayment off his ELC. I get he's making 925K already, but has he produced enough to get that type of payday? He's an RFA. I think you can get him for 1M. Schaller, if it's for 1Y, fine....1.2M isn't that bad, granted it's falling into that "paying your 4th liners". Czarnik could get an NHL job somewhere. I don't see him re-signing here, unless he's basically promised an NHL spot. No thanks on Wingels. 1M is a bit much to be paying a 13th/14th forward. You can find cheaper options. Cap counts come the TDL, so why take that on?

I don't like 2 year deals for Kuraly at that number, Khudobin (AAV high), and Holden, when you have big-time RFA's coming up after next season. All that money adds up.

Lineup:

Grzelcyk has uprooted BOTH Chara and Krug for a top 2 spot? I don't see it. JFK is not a RW, so why is he playing there? You gave up a lot and paid a lot for a 3rd line center.

Not a whole lot to like with this one. Thankfully, it's not realistic. Tavares to Boston is a pipe-dream.

Boston often starts centers on wing until they prove they can handle center. Id be surprised if jfk is strong enough to start at center next year... but might be stuck in ahl yoo

Dont put too much stock in number 1/2/3 rankings at position... its much more about line combos. Chara will still get most minutes because hes a pk. Krug will be second because hes a pp. I just think gryzelyck has a good chance to compliment mcavoy. Chara brings out the best in carlo. And krug needs to be sheltered 5 on 5

As for contracts... clearly charas was estimated low. It never hurts to go high with these guys because they almost always get more than we thought

The krejci family thing? I guess his wifes family is there? Or so ive been told. Im not sure it matters, but he does have a nmc. Trading him requires finding a team thats wants him, can afford him, and he would want too

That dimenishes his value.

I think lindholm does better on a better team... buy low... hope for improvement

Thanks for respinding... debate is always fun

I think boston has a chance for a cup... strength down the middle is important. I worry if jfk is the 3rd center and one of the top 2 gets hurt. Id like someone like lindholm for depth if we cant afford to keep riley nash
