How will we fit so many kids onto a cup contender?
just messing around with my attempt to post a nhl mock lineup into a forum for my sim league
no need to post any comments this is an unfinished look at the bruin cap situation from last year

also guys like hossa and Clarkson might be injured in real life... but in the ehm sim, they still are healthy enough to play

its an ongoing keeper league which I joined after 10 years... I didn't have any of the bruin players. I was just trying to use this site to recreate the team I actually own

Panarin
8 positions being staffed by guys that might not be good enough and a couple more filled with low level fill ins.. looks like a huge disaster to me
I don't particularly think panarin would resign so I think your idea is a non starter... but even if he was willing to sign your offer, I don't like it. and it really screws the team

Thread:
if im king of the world
what im going for here is obviously a bigger team... but I don't want to totally ignore skill/skating. im looking to find a proven 3-zone vetern that can hang with McAvoy for proper first pair minutes. im looking for a bigger body established young vet left shot guy to partner and grow with carlo… preferably with some better puck skills because that's carlos weaker area. im letting chara finish his career as a pk specialist and someone in that bottom pair to bring along a couple kids and break them in. moore??? not sure why we signed him but lets have a look I guess
up front I hope gambling on bennett and Virtanen pays off but they are low risk investments I think. we do have kids in the system that can take their spots of they don't pay off. I am one person that believes lucic still has enough in the tank to dominate when/if hes healthy and actually gives a damn. at 3 mill hes a pretty decent tom Wilson for the lineup at worst. getting oilers to eat 1/2 the contract is a must before I bring him back.
letting ryan donato break in slow wont hurt... I feel donato has more upside then Heinen or Bjork. with debrusk/donato I think we fill our quota for young left shot offensive wingers so trading the other 2 for a center and a right wing makes sense to me
Edmonton might have to deal a dman to make room on the payroll and in the lineup for krug but that's their problem
overall I think I was fair to the other teams and gave them players they can use and would want

bringing rick nash back on creative deal
rick nash contract would be a 1 year because we have cap room this year... but we want him next year 2. we would make a gentlemans agreement. we would tell him we are overpaying him this year because part of the money should be considered as next year's payment. we would get a promise from him that he will accept a bonus laden 35 year old contract next season with a base salary of 2 mill and 3 mill in bonus money
we need this to make the cap work next year. what this means for nash is hes promised 9 mill over 2 years... if he doesn't make a single bonus. but if he does make his bonus he can earn as much as 12 mill. so if he plays great he will be paid well.
edler is on an expiring contract so I imagine krug fans will be irate that im trading him for a guy that is only here 1 year. but I want a cup and I think edler does more to help us get the cup. hes also a better partner for McAvoy as McAvoy needs to go through the sophomore blues this year and needs a good partner. getting brandon sutter who is a right hand shot at 1/2 price will be very valuable to the bruins as they try to break federic and studnicka and jfk into the lineup over the next couple years and makes it easier for the bruins to trade krejci and/or backes next year when their ntc opens up.
my team isn't finished yet... its too close to the cap. we would still need to trade one of miller or McQuaid. I would hold off until someone gets desperate for a rhs dman and gives us a very good draft pick. id fill the 7th spot with a rotation of different providence guys to give them experience
id also fill the 14th forward position from providence guys too
got to get some of these kids more nhl time before we start losing them all to group V free agency

the cup comes to boston
I don't feel its overpayment
if you think heinen is worth more than a first round pick maybe you do... but edler would be worth a first at deadline
I'm asking for edler at 2 mill retained... that's going to cost
and I'm asking for Virtanen... imho he has more trade value than gryzlyck. I believe Vancouver fans might feel they could get more and wouldn't like my proposal.

Thread:
the cup comes to boston
krejci lives in Carolina... so if he is going to accept a trade it might be here... next year his ntc expires and he might end up somewhere he doesn't really want to go... so he might prefer to go to his home
Carolina is in flux... but they are lacking scoring big time... and experience... if you can predict what they want or don't want any better than I you are a genius. in the meantime I'm trying to fill a need for them
grizz has no arbitration and was a 6th pair dman... I give him a bit extra to get him on a 2 year deal...
zboril represents a elc contract... he might not get the full year if he doesn't earn it. there might be some vet like postma in the position... or another kid... it doesn't matter
Bjork started this year out of camp on a first and a second line... he got hurt... but he is a first/second line player when hes healthy. its either that or the minors. I have faith in him
I have him at rw and donato at lw simply because I think hes shown more at rw... but that can be experimented with
thanks

After chara signing... balance the budget
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>BreKel</b></div><div>This is the day and age where points sell. If Matt Beleskey can land a 3.8M dollar contract for 5 years, Riley Nash can definitely land more for longer term. He plays a more prominent position and is having a better statistical season than Beleskey did. No chance he signs a 1Y deal. I see Kuraly getting overpaid on here a lot. I'm not seeing the production to warrant paying him anything over 1M. I would also prefer another option for the 13th forward. Bjork needs to be playing everyday. He shouldn't be wasting away on the 9th floor.</div></div>
With all the injuries bruins get... their 13th forward will play regular
If nash does feel he wants longterm security... ok
Id try to talk joe thornton to come back for a shot at the cup then
Boston needs a 3rd line vet center on a 1 year deal until we get proof jfk, federic, studnicka, donato can handle the job

After chara signing... balance the budget
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Ragsandbluesfan</b></div><div>Try 80 mil and nash probably isnt staying</div></div>
might choose a longer deal with another team... but i think his offense is grossly inflated by marchand. if i was another team would i want to do 3x3?
boston being in a win now mold and with jfk/federic being untested at nhl... i would say boston should spend excess caproom bringing back a guy that is now proven can step up into the top line
but only a 1 year...
is it a gamble for nash to take 1x4 instead of 3x3?
if he duplicates this year he will get paid next season... and even if he fails, 4 mill sets him up for life
i could see him back at an overpayment. i think boston should do it
if cap goes to 80... so be it... but players need to approve escalator and i see very little chance of that happening when escrow is out of control

I think boston has a chance for a cup... strength down the middle is important. I worry if jfk is the 3rd center and one of the top 2 gets hurt. Id like someone like lindholm for depth if we cant afford to keep riley nash

taveres to the bruins
Boston often starts centers on wing until they prove they can handle center. Id be surprised if jfk is strong enough to start at center next year... but might be stuck in ahl yoo
Dont put too much stock in number 1/2/3 rankings at position... its much more about line combos. Chara will still get most minutes because hes a pk. Krug will be second because hes a pp. I just think gryzelyck has a good chance to compliment mcavoy. Chara brings out the best in carlo. And krug needs to be sheltered 5 on 5
As for contracts... clearly charas was estimated low. It never hurts to go high with these guys because they almost always get more than we thought
The krejci family thing? I guess his wifes family is there? Or so ive been told. Im not sure it matters, but he does have a nmc. Trading him requires finding a team thats wants him, can afford him, and he would want too
That dimenishes his value.
I think lindholm does better on a better team... buy low... hope for improvement
Thanks for respinding... debate is always fun

2018-19 bruins
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>FryesLeapMaine</b></div><div>This is okay, but I think you might need to trade Backes the following year if you give Nash that term. McAvoy + Carlo + Heinen + JFK likely equate to more than the 5M you have now + the amount the cap could go up. McAvoy himself could take up 6m+.</div></div>
With mcquaid off the books... chara taking a bonus based contract... and hayes buyout off the books it should give around 10 mill to resign mcavoy and carlo. Im afraid heinen has a problem called competition for his job. Is he going to be worth a big contract when we have donato and bjork begging for a job at 1/4 the cost?
We get to the 2020-2021 season and suddenly some of our ntc are much easier to move
We are in a win now window and we have cap room and lots of kids to trade at deadline to fill holes... time to go for it

if anyone wonders who the st louis pick is... ill go with nail yakipov, but i will predict he doesn't agree to terms and heads back to russia...
i predict vegas will be open for business and guys like paul martin, james neal, and marcus kruger (with salary retained) will be traded asap for more picks
so far have vegas with 2 extra firsts and 3 extra seconds... also 5 dmen you can build longterm around and at least 3 building block forwards

convincing anyone to take orpik would be one hell of a good move but think you need to plan on being stuck with him.
i believe washington should make changes but i think yours are a little bit unfair to other teams wishes
