We need a D

Description
Hear me out

1st Line: This will be our shutdown line again. Toews might not be scoring like he used to but his defensive game has been exceptional. Him and Saad can match up against any line in the NHL. Throw Schmaltz and his playmaking ability into the mix and I think he can get them scoring like we know they can.

Line 2: This is where Anisimov needs to be. He's almost useless on the 3rd or 4th lines. If the Hawks keep Anisimov as a net front presence with Kane and add DeBrincat into the mix, then this line would be lethal.

Line 3: I signed Bozak to be the 3rd line center because he's strong in the dot and would be a good veteran presence. If the Hawks draft an NHL ready center then he could slide into the 3rd line center role but I don't see that happening. We've already seen Vinnie play well and hopefully Sikura lives up to the hype.

4th Line: This will be a speedy line with big wingers in Hayden and Ejdsell. All 3 can score and are defensively responsible. Hayden and Ejdsell have the upside to move up in the lineup but will probably start in the bottom six.

As for the defense, Q will probably mix up the pairings but I expect him to give Forsling and Rutta another shot together as well as Murphy and Seabs. I brought in Miller to play top 4 minutes with Keith at a relatively cheaper price than a John Carlson. The only issue is that they probably don't want to move Miller at this point but if we could entice them with Duclair, Gus, and a 2nd then they might bite on it.

That trade is a really good idea. I think Miller would be a great add for the Hawks, but I hate the Hawks so hopefully that won’t happen. I’d worry about Duclair going to Vegas though. It wouldn’t surprise me if he started playing like Wild Bill
Karlsson and randomly score 40 goals.

I agree that he has the potential to score but he's looked out of place so far with the Hawks. I think he still has some trade value so we might as well use him to boost our D corps. We have depth at forward and he seems to be losing a spot in the top 9. Thanks for the feedback homie.

I like the trade, I like the concept, I REALLY like Miller, I am a fan all around. Miller adds great scoring ability from the back end. He was similar to a Wild Bill Karlsson in that he was buried on the depth chart in Boston. He's a really good player and could be a nice add to the Hawks. I think Forsling, Duclair and a 2nd gets it done. I do agree with Sam though above. Duclair has the ability that, if in the right system, he can be a top 6 winger who can score 30+. Could be one of those win-win trades.

You will have to pay a significantly higher price than 2 fringe NHLers and a 2nd for Miller. He produced the same amount of points as OEL without the atrocious defensive play. Not saying he is as gifted offensively as OEL but he sure is better defensively.

That's possible because I do think they would sell high on Miller. I just don't think he has anywhere near the value of OEL or an equivalent. This was by far his best year of his career but his stats might be inflated because Vegas has played so well. I still think Duclair is a top 9 forward with a top 6 ceiling plus Gustafsson to replace Miller. The 2nd rounder has value too. Just a thought.

I like the additions especially Tyler Bozak, and Colin Miller is what we need on the blue line, however Bowman should add a few more veteran depth players..

Also you can bet the Hawks will be taking a defenseman with their first round pick this year and that defenseman may be NHL ready. This is an extremely deep draft with many of the top prospects NHL ready... If we don't win the lotto as of today we're drafting #7 and in that #7 slot I see the Hawks taking Evan Bouchard and he may be NHL ready. Of course if we win the lotto and draft in any of the first 3 slots I see the Hawks taking Dahlin at #1 and maybe Boqvist at #2-3 but in the event the Hawks draft #2-3 it would be difficult to pass on one of the top forwards Tkachuk, Svechnikov or Zadina... The real question is what do you do if you do end up with the #2-3 slots and you're already sold on taking a defenseman like Boqvist or Bouchard? trade down to #5 and add a second round pick, or just take Boqvist at #2?

IMO Boqvist is absolutely NHL ready.

In my opinion I'd like to see the Hawks take the best available player when it's their turn to pick. At #1 definitely take Dahlin, #2-4 one of the forwards. If we draft a forward then I would like to see us trade one of Duclair, Vinnie, or Anisimov and possibly Nashville's 1st to get a top 4 D (such as a Justin Faulk). If we draft an NHL-ready D then I would like us to sign a 3rd line center or a top-6 winger (such as JVR). Might sound like a pipe dream but I think the Hawks have some good assets to contend next year. My philosophy is that you can never have too many defensemen, especially with Keith and Seabs getting older. But damn Tkachuk would be fun to watch on the left side of Kane and Schmaltz.

What would be ideal is if the Hawks packaged Nashville's first round pick with perhaps Anisimov and moved up in the draft.

Yea, at pick #2-3 it would be hard to pass up a guy like Tkachuk or Svechnikov those 2 are studs, I mean IMO Tkachuk is just as good as his father - he may be better. But if the Hawks can use Nashville's pick to move up so the Hawks could snag one of those top defenseman that would be pretty nice too... That or if the Hawks do end up at #7 and take Evan Bouchard it would be cool if they also moved up and took Joe Veleno, because he's projected to go anywhere between 12-20 and I think Veleno would fit this team like a glove.
