Offseason moves with Arizona and Edmonton

Created by: Jacketsman61
Team: 2018-19 Columbus Blue Jackets
Initial Creation Date: Mar. 27, 2018
Published: Mar. 29, 2018
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Arizona is going to need to take on cap again to hit the cap floor. Dubi, while he is exactly the player he used to be, is still a very seasoned vet that could provide much needed experience to a team that needs it. The Jackets give up Milano in the trade to ensure Arizona takes all of Dubi cap hit.

Edmonton needs to create cap space. But they also have an alarming need for a defenseman who is responsible defensively. Ryan Murray can more than fit that role. But with his injury history Edmonton would need more back on RNH in order to make the deal so they would get a prospect in Bittner and a 1st round pick.

Columbus gets cap space in the first trade allowing them to successfully sign Werenski, Panarin, and Bob to extensions. The second trade gives them a second line center to shore up the roster and stabilize the lineup.

From an Edmonton fan that's a hard NO....
It's true that we need defensemen but we don't need another underachieving left handed blue liner
If we're dealing RNH to you guys we'd want to structure it around Seth Jones which obviously won't happen

I doubt Dubi waives for AZ.

Edmonton's after a RHD. Murray not only is a LHD, he's not good at playing on his off side.

RNH is not going to get you anywhere near a defenseman with the caliber of Jones.

Dubi has a real disdain for playing for Canadian teams. He can only veto 7 teams and there are 7 Canadian teams. He would play a more prominent role in Arizona than Columbus.

To be fair, that poster did follow that statement with "which obviously won't happen". That said, yeah, I flinched at seeing that name in that context too.
