No desire to seem like a deushce, but why would Rangers take on Lucic contract if they’d consider adding JVR, Kane or Kovalchuk? Even though it’s $1.5M difference but Lucic also came off a bad year.

I think the only way the Oilers can fix their depth forward problem and get a top RHD is by ditching either Lucic or Russell’s terrible contracts, but both players have NMC. I think Lucic is more likely to accept a trade and has more value around the league. I think the Rangers might be interested in this trade because they are full rebuilding and might value Lucic’s presence on a rebuilding team and have stated an interest in moving up in this years draft.

The oilers might have to sweeten the pot with that trade by adding prospects. This is my idea of a perfect summer for the Oilers.
