Yeah lets have 22.5 million locked up in our top 2 centers for a long ass time!

Well it's kinda been done by the Hawk with Toews and Kane as too expensive forwards. I don't see it being the Leaf way to pay Tavares nearly that much $$$$.

I just don't like it. I think the caps have a good example of what top 2 centers should add too in 7.8+6.7. maybe thats just me

Of course Backstrom was signed years ago, when the cap was smaller. I guess more important it not the position but how much you pay your top group of stars. Examples Hawks pay their top 6 guys an average of 7m Six guys making half your cap....seems too much. Leafs are probably going pay there top 3 about 25m (when the cap is higher), which about the same as the Caps top three forwards. Dallas is paying their top 3 forwards about 24m, unfortunately one of them is Spezza....so they are out of the playoffs.
